DESCRIPTION
Château D’Hanteillan is an historical domain in Haut-Médoc, mentioned as early as the 12th century in aull of Pope Alexander III where it figures among the assets of the Abbey of Vertheuil.
The property came under the ownership of many “Cru Bourgeois” families before being owned in 1972 by the Mathieu-Blasco family, contractors originally from the Limousin region, breeders, captains of industry and lovers of wine. Labelled “cru bourgeois supérieur” in 2003, it has been managed since 2010 by Madame Catherine Blasco with the support of her team.
Located in the commune of Cissac, belonging to theHaut-Médoc appellation, adjacent to Saint-Estèphe and Pauillac, Château d’Hanteillan has its vineyard set on a lovely gravelly hilltop neighbouring several prestigious classified Grands Crus.
Tasting Notes:
An explosion of forest fruits (blackberries and bilberries) on the palate predominates tasting when young. A wine of great richness heightened by flavouring tannins and magnified by an aromatic complexity revealing spiced nuances of clove and vanilla. Smoky and flowery notes (dried rose petals) are revealed several years after being bottled.
